Summary of class Activities
The class met in BRD 124. The teacher taught us how to use blackboard and how to use the class website; http://cre101-evaluativereading.weebly.com. The website has the chapters quiz, and we took the Introduction quiz in class. The teacher showed us how to email the results to ourselves and then to the teacher. We must have a 100 percents. During class I took 4 tests. Three of them are from the book and the last one is from the internet. The first test is, “Auditory, Visual or Kinesthetic” on page 30. I learned that I am a more visual person; learns best by seeing. The second test is, “Day versus Night People”, on page 36. I learned that I am a morning person. I could see that, because after I take a shower, I feel refresh. The third test is “Which Side of Your Brain Is Dominant?.” I learned that I am a Left-brain hemisphere. The last test is the IQ test; we took it in the Internet. I want to the www.iqtest.com. I learned that my IQ is 97.

On Thursday I met with my group to discuss what we are going to do. We met in the library, we picked a story and then found the picture book that relates to the story we read in the book. We filled in the chart of the leader, the presenter, the errand runner, recorder, time keeper, and other. It was easy and relaxing. We were comfortable, to talk about what we have found. On Monday, we presented what we have found. My group had part 3, “Interpreting what we Read”. Three of the members choose, “The Love of My Life”. Someone chose about World War II. Two other classmates did a story about beauty.

The 15th is the day we meet our reading partner. I was nervous to read out loud, I was actually excited to read. The first book that I read was, “What Mom Can’t Do.” It was a short and very easy. The story is cute and loving. My first reading partner is a boy who is very shy. The boy very liked it. It was easy to fallow along. My other partner was quite, and shy. I read the story; he took the quiz, which it is easy also. The third boy, was outgoing just would so comfortable to talk about anything. He likes firework, he can’t wait for 4th of July. He is into science. The session, I had a girl. She is very shy and you could tell that she could get uncomfortable. When I started reading she started to be comfortable towards me. While I was reading she was so quite that she made me uncomfortable. I had a good time; it was fun to read the stories out loud to them.

This is the second story to read. This time the story was about cop related. The book is called, “Officer Buckle and Gloria.” The author of this book is Peggy Rathmann. It was published by Scholastic Inc, in New York. The whole story is about how Officer Buckle goes to elementary schools and tells the kids how to follow the rules. If they don’t follow the rules they would hurt themselves. The elementary kids were not listening to what he has to say, so one he brought a dog with him that is when they started to listen to the rules. My partner liked the story. It was a nice book to read about officer and how they want to keep the civilians safe. One of my reading partners already read the book, forget how the story goes. Somehow he said there is a movie about the book and he seen it. They took the quiz, which it has, 8 questions. The vocabulary has only 6 words. They knew all of them. We felt rushed; the first session came late, then next after that. It was late of time to teach them all of my

This time the first session came late, but it was ok. I read my book, “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything” written by Linda Williams. The part that I read in the class book was about Langston Hughes. The story was how a lady was almost got her purse stolen by a boy who only wanted money to buy shoes. The lady grabbed him by the shirt very hard. In a way she is not afraid of anything, that is way I choose this book. The time period is like Halloween. My reading partner liked the book. They think that the books that I chose are easy and easy to follow. Somehow I felt that reading out loud is easy and comfortable to read to them. It wasn’t like the first time, when all of them were so shy to talk, but now they are being open toward us.

The 23rd, is a very sad day to say good-bye to my buddies, it was good to see them for the last time. I read my last book, which it’s called, “Book Fiesta: Celebrate Children’s Day/Book Day” by Pat Mora. I read to my first buddy who made a card, as a good-bye present. He took his quiz, which were only five questions true and false. Next thing I know I the next group came. We didn’t have a lot of kids in the next group, so my partner was not there that day. So I had a relaxing break. Next group came I read to my partner, he took the quiz. At the end he gave me his card. It was cute. The last group came, my quite one of all. I read to her, she took the quiz, I asked her if she want to go pick out a book so we could read together, she said, “no, I want you to opened your card.” So I did, her card made me very happy. We hugged and we said our good-byes.
